Welcome to our February 2026 Newsletter! Winter is in full swing, and we’re excited to share all the wonderful learning experiences, special celebrations, and important updates happening this month at Guildford Childcare Centre. February is filled with love, creativity, and meaningful activities for both our Daycare/Preschool and Out of School Care (OOSC) programs.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to all our new families—we are so happy to have you join our childcare community!
❄️ Daycare & Preschool Program – February Themes
This month, our daycare and preschool children will explore Winter and Valentine’s Day through hands-on activities, stories, art projects, and play-based learning.
Curriculum Focus:
- Letters: K, L
- Numbers: 0–6
- Colour of the Month: Red
- Concepts: Opposites – Top & Bottom, Happy & Sad
These activities help support early literacy, numeracy, emotional development, and social skills in a fun and engaging way.
🎒 Out of School Care (OOSC) Program
Our OOSC program continues to offer exciting and structured activities that promote creativity, teamwork, and curiosity:
- Monday: Structured Play
- Tuesday: Science & Math Madness
- Wednesday: Bingo & Baking
- Thursday: Art Day
- Friday: Movie & Treat Day
📌 Important Note: Please ensure your child brings a sufficient, healthy afternoon snack. Nut-free snacks only, please.
💖 February Highlights & Special Days
- February 13: Pre-Valentine’s Day Celebration
- Children will make Valentine’s cards and crafts and enjoy sharing treats.
- February 14: Valentine’s Day
- A day to celebrate love, kindness, and friendship.
- February 16 (Monday): Family Day
- Daycare Closed — We wish all our families a Happy Family Day!
- February 25: Pink Shirt Day
- An anti-bullying awareness day. We encourage everyone to wear pink to show support.
🎨 Programs & Activities This Month
- Valentine’s Day Art Projects:
Heart garlands, Valentine’s cards, and handprint heart paintings. - Outdoor Play Adventures:
Hopscotch, jump rope, and obstacle courses (weather permitting). - Music & Movement:
Songs and dances to support rhythm, coordination, and confidence. - Storytime Spotlight:
- Who Loves You? by Dr. Seuss
- The Feelings Book by Todd Parr
📌 Important Reminders for Parents
✅ Monthly Fees Due: Friday, January 30, 2026
✅ Subsidy Renewals: Please ensure subsidies are renewed on time
✅ Drop-off Cut-off Time: 9:00 AM (late arrivals cannot be accepted)
✅ Extra Essentials: Please provide extra clothes and indoor shoes
✅ Spring Break: March 16 – March 29, 2026
✅ Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Required for outdoor play
