Welcome to our May 2026 newsletter! As we step into the colorful season of spring, we are thrilled to share the exciting activities, learning themes, and important updates for our daycare and Out of School Care (OOSC) program.
🌼 Daycare & Preschool Themes for May
This month, our daycare and preschoolers will explore the wonders of Spring and immerse in the beauty of Flowers through interactive activities and themed learning experiences. Our curriculum focus includes:
- Letters: S, T, U
- Numbers: 0–9
- Color of the Month: Pink
- Opposites Concept: Smooth & Rough
A warm welcome to all the new families joining our daycare! We are excited to embark on this journey of learning and fun together.
🎨 OOSC Program Activities
Our Out of School Care (OOSC) program offers a variety of engaging activities designed to foster creativity, curiosity, and teamwork. Here’s what we have planned for each day of the week:
- Monday: Structured Play
- Tuesday: Science & Math Madness
- Wednesday: Bingo & Baking
- Thursday: Art Day
- Friday: Movie & Treat Day
Important Note: Please ensure your child brings a sufficient and healthy snack for the afternoon. No nuts, please.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled month with exciting activities planned for our OOSC program. Please check the calendar for detailed schedules and ensure your child is registered on time.
💐 Mother’s Day – May 10th, Sunday
Greetings to all the loving mothers out there — “Happy Mother’s Day!”
📌 Important Reminders
- ✅ Monthly Fee Deadline: Fees are due by Thursday, April 30, 2026. Please make timely payments to avoid penalties.
- ✅ Subsidy Renewals: If you require a subsidy, ensure it is renewed on time.
- ✅ Drop-off Cut-off Time: 9:00 AM. Late arrivals beyond this time will not be accepted.
- ✅ Extra Essentials: Make sure your child has extra clothes and indoor shoes at daycare.
- ✅ Summer Care OOSC Registration: If your child is not yet registered, the deadline is June 12, 2026. After this date, we will open registration to external participants.

Spring is here, and we’re excited to share all the fun and learning happening at Guildford Childcare Centre this month. From special days to exciting programs, this month is packed with activities that will keep your little ones engaged and happy!
🎉 May Highlights
Special Days to Celebrate
- May 10th: Mother’s Day
It is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. - May 16th: International Drawing Day
It’s a day to celebrate and encourage drawing worldwide, with a focus on creativity, self-expression, and cultural appreciation. We encourage our children to show their artistic abilities by organizing drawing exhibits showing different techniques and mediums. - May 18th: Victoria Day
It is a federal Canadian public holiday observed on the last Monday preceding May 25 to honour Queen Victoria, who is known as the “Mother of Confederation”.
🎭 Programs and Activities
- Arts and Crafts Projects
This month, children will engage into creative activities as they make arts and crafts, including paper Mache, flower collage, handprint butterfly and Origami. - Outdoor Play Adventures
With the warmer weather, we’ll spend more time outdoors exploring nature, playing games, and enjoying picnics. - Music and Movement
Our music program will focus on spring songs and dances, helping children develop rhythm and coordination. We will go for nature walks exploring the and playing games. - Storytime Spotlight
We’ll read books about spring, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and Wild Flowers Grow by Amber Hendricks.
📣 Parent Reminders
- Summer Break: June 26th to September 7th.
- Extra Clothes: Please ensure your child has a set of weather-appropriate clothes for outdoor play.
- Summer Care OOSC Reservation Forms: Please return the signed forms together with the reservation fee on or before June 12th.
